This weekend, we’re taking #DataDrives to the streets of Houston with two community events. We hope to see you there:
Google Street View Car at Sunday Streets
One Breath partner Environmental Defense Fund teamed with Google to add mobile air sensors to Google’s fleet of Street View cars in the Houston region. Come to Sunday Streets this weekend and join the One Breath Partnership team to see the sensors firsthand – and learn more about how the mobile data collected is providing new insights and driving solutions for clean air in the Houston region.
WHEN: Sunday, December 2, from 4pm - 8pm
WHAT: Mobile Air Monitoring Sensors on a Google Street View car and the City of Houston's Mobile Lab
Advocates for clean air and data scientists will get together at TX/RX Labs to be a part of a data jam, working with local, state, and federal data into an API created by January Advisors.
Whether you're participating or not, all are invited to enjoy food, drinks and conversation, observe the data jammers, hear from groups like Air Alliance Houston, Environmental Defense Fund, and TX/RX Labs on data projects, air monitoring, and building DIY sensors. And on display, we'll also have a Google Street View car equipped with mobile air monitoring sensors.
WHEN: Monday, December 3
5:30-7:30pm Social time with food and drinks
6:00-8:30pm Data jam hosted by Sketch City
8:00-8:30pm Lightning talks
- Jason Mishou, TX/RX - Building Sensors, Types and Data Processing
- Jeff Reichman, January Advisors - The long, slow march to tidy data from TCEQ
- Dr. Elena Craft, Environmental Defense Fund - Turning Data into Action
- Mobile Air Monitoring and the Google Street View Program
8:30-9:00pm Data jam presentations
Come mix with data enthusiasts and see how folks are working across disciplines to explore new ways of tackling some of the city's pressing issues. #OurAirOurHouston
